Turning a life tragedy into your purpose, saving other people's lives with Dellann Elliott Mydland

Welcome from your Intuition Queen.

In the 7th Episode of Intuitive Queens Podcast I am interviewing Dellann Elliott Mydland.

Dellan is the founder, President and Board chair of the End Brain Cancer Initiative formerly known as the Chris Elliot fund.

HOW A SUDDEN FEELING CAN, AT TIMES, BE AN INTUITIVE MESSAGE

Dellann tells us how 17 years ago, she had a fairy tale life.

Married to a man she loved, with 2 small children and was living her best life.

One day while watching them playing in the garden, she thought about how happy and lucky she was to have such a beautiful family and beautiful home.

That same thought scared her but she didn’t think too much about it.

Little did she know that two weeks after, that fear would become real as her husband was diagnosed with brain cancer.

EXPERIENCING THE SYSTEM FAILURE AND FINDING A BETTER WAY

From the moment Chris is diagnosed with brain cancer, they are forced to go through the standard procedure that US system apply.

It took them 10 months to learn that there are specialists and different treatment options and that’s when they start getting other opinions.

From this moment they learnt about centre of excellence for brain tumor patients, different exams, different treatments and they of course go for it.

WHEN YOUR TRAGEDY BECOMES YOUR PURPOSE

Unfortunately, after 22 months Chris passes away, but 3 weeks before, they both decide that other people had to know there is a better way to navigate this disease and be cured properly.

That’s when the Chris Elliott’s fund, now End Brain Cancer Initiative, was created and Dellann is still working hard today to inform patients and families of the different processes.

As Dellann says “Sometimes, things happen in people’s lives and they wonder why me.

And believe me, I understand that.

But I also wonder, why not you.

Maybe you were meant to do things to help other people with whatever that tragedy is.”

END BRAIN CANCER INISTIATIVE IS DIFFERENT BECAUSE THEY CARE

Dellann tells us she knew that making the system better and helping other people with brain cancer was going to become her life mission.

17 years later she is still working hear with her team to bring as much information, support to the patience and families and she works with the FDA and various other companies to make sure that researches and new option treatment can be found to help increase the chances of survivorship.

End brain cancer initiative has 3 different programmes that are tailored specifically for patients in 3 different ways.

Visit www.EndBrainCancer.org to learn more about all the programmes.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS DEASEASE ARE NOT JUST PHYSICAL OR EMOTIONAL BUT ALSO ECONOMICAL

Dellann explains how women are the ones often affected on all level, especially when the patient is a man.

It is often the case that the man in a family is the one that has control over the finances.

This can become a problem in the process and a problematic consequence for women that often take care of the kids but not necessarily have a grip on the financial aspect of the family life.

For this reason, Dellann is open to speak to women that find lost and don’t know what to do next.

End Brain Cancer initiative relies on the support of donors.

If you want to donate money and help making a difference, please visit www.EndBrainCancer.org.

A PASSION PROJECT TO INSPIRE PEOPLE TO TURN THEIR TRAGEDIES INTO THEIR PURPOSE

Dellann strongly believes that things happen for a reason and she is the example of how something so tragic has become the drive behind the great work that her and her team, at the End brain cancer initiative, do to help people.

Inspired by this, together with her co-author Lisa Reck is now collecting people’s stories.

If you have had a personal tragedy and you have managed to overcome it and that inspired you to help other people, you are what they are looking for.

They want to hear the story, we want to hear how you moved through, what that looked like, what are you doing to help other people.

Have you created a company or an organisation or a service?

Everybody has a tragedy, but what’s on the other side, what that story looks like, what’s that transition?

If you feel you fit the description, listen to the full episode to get all the details of what you need to submit and then submit your story to:

They can send it to me at Dellann@EndBrainCancer.org.
